«Brides of the world»
A collection designed by Sahar Eshghi Sani
Since the dawn of time, for little girls, the dream of finding love, live a fairy tale, conquering prince charming and marriage are a sacred hope.
The sweet wish of marriage runs independently from the passing of time and age. For a woman, no matter her age, this dream remains intact and if she can’t reach it, it translates into regrets and a deep sadness.
This shared hope of all women goes beyond frontiers, cultures and religions.
With the evolution of societies and the difficulties of the contemporary life that have brought a change into the meaning and the structure of marriage, the hope still stays strong, even if it becomes on occasion anchored on an unconscious one.
In reality, marriage for a woman is the starting point of the creation of a family life and the first step of the next dream of childbirth and the way towards completion.
These are the reasons why I titled this collection “Brides of the world”.
Therefore, these artworks are composed of veils, symbol of brides and marriage overlayed with pictures of woman from around the world that I had the occasion of shooting during my travels.
The pictures in transparency associated with the veils create a blur with fluctuating levels of colors and light evoking the ancestral dream of marriage.
